Gjendesheim Tourist Lodge
Gjendesheim is beautifully located close to one of the most important gateways to the eastern part of Jotunheimen.
Our location at the foot of Besseggen, and as the closest neighbor to the Gjendeboat, makes the lodge well visited throughout the summer. Everyone gets a place to sleep. It is also possible to book accommodations if you are staying several nights. Gjendesheim is considered an excellent place to spend both easter and summer holidays, especially among families with children.
Most people come to Gjendesheim to hike Besseggen, but it is also a good starting point for other great mountain hikes in the area during both summer and winter. After a day in the mountains, with stiff and sore muscles, enjoy our traditional norwegian heated tub with view over Gjende and Jotunheimen. We also offer rental trail bikes, mountain skis and randonee equipment. Read more on https://www.dnt.no/hytter/betjente/gjendesheim/utstyrsleie/
Food
Our goal is to give our guests at Gjendesheim a food experience based on local traditions, culture and produce. We offer the taste of local, distinctive and real – og we therefore have a good cooperation with local food farms and producers. Dinner is served every day at 18.00 and 20.00 during the winter, and 19.00 and 21.00 during the summer.
